Marie's Hard Bean Cafe opened July 1st of 2005 and has since become a well known place for residents and the business community to relax and enjoy themselves. During the warm months the outside deck becomes heavily populated with customers on their lunch breaks.

New customers continue to find Marie's everyday and the reputation of the cafe is spreading fast. Music was slowly incorporated, and by October, Marie's became a popular venue for local music with the Open Mic nights and performances.

Marie, Owner

Marie was originally from Philadelphia and during her high school years moved into the Berks County area. She clearly felt the difference of being lost in a big city and the close knit feel of a PA small town.

After 18yrs in the Banking Industry, Marie had the itch to start her own business - She wanted to work in a place where the customers were always pleasant. In 2003, she was in a NYC cafe with her husband and noticed an elderly couple, a man on his computer and a few kids all in the cafe. They were all having an enjoyable time and it was at this pivotal moment that she realized that she wanted to own her own cafe.

Fleetwood was choosen for it's small town appeal and the fact that it was a walking town as well as a place to drive to. Marie enjoys getting to know her customers on a personal level.

She currently resides in Berks County with her husband and two step-daughters.
